Women
It is expected there will be over 66 million Latinas by 2050. This is over a 194% increase from 2000. During the same time period (2000 to 2050, the total U.S. female population is anticipated to grow only 48%.)
***By 2050, Latinas will be fully one-quarter of the U.S. female population!!!***
As of 2005, Latinas comprise 20.5 million women in the U.S. or 13.6% of the total female population. (Mexicans are 66% of all Hispanic females)
***Latinas are a larger proportion among all women in the younger age brackets – below 39.***
For an interesting breakdown, look at the following table…
| Age | Hispanic Percentage of
TOTAL U.S. female population |
| 0-4 | 21% |
| 5-9 | 19.5% |
| 10-14 | 18% |
| 15-19 | 16.3% |
| 20-24 | 16.5% |
| 25-29 | 17.9% |
| 30-39 | 15.6% |
| 40-49 | 10.9% |
| 50-64 | 8.2% |
| 65+ | 5.8% |
What this means is that we have a rapidly growing (and increasing) percentage of women in the U.S.

Aurelia,
I will be presenting at a symposium called “Women of Color in STEM fields. I am interested in using your statistics. Is it possible for me to use them? How can I cite them in my presentation? Where did you get them?
I really would appreciate your response. and any other statistics you can make available to me.
Thank you, Elsa
